The pet fair takes place in conjunction with the Consumenta, which is known as the biggest consumer fair of Bavaria. Whether it is a dog, a cat, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters or reptiles, in every third German household there is a pet. The pet fair in Nuremberg presents the full range of pet supplies including pet food, cages and boxes, leaches and collars, scratching posts, toys, cat toilets and litter, watering places and feeding bowls, baskets and cushions or dog clothing, accessories for the animal lovers as well as literature about pets, to name just a few examples. The daily demonstrations and lectures are an important part of the exhibition. The famous Nuremberg dog trainer Marcel Combé e. g. will disclose his knowledge of how to handle dogs. The forum lectures deal with topics such as feeding management and animal health. At the daily veterinarian consultation visitors will get valuable tips. Special highlights of the exhibition are the daily performances in the large demonstration ring of the fair, e, g. dog demonstrations such as agility, fun agility and rally obedience. From the performances of a national rescue dogs association or the use of therapy dogs visitors also get insight into the diverse talents of a dog. Cat lovers should include a visit of the pedigree cat exhibition in any case. It takes place in hall no. 9 as part of the pet trade fair and occupies about 500 square meters. Organized by a cat association of Bassum (www.felidae-ev.de) it puts the different races into the spotlight. Judges will rate the pedigree cats and award the most beautiful of them. Parallel to the pet fair and in combination with the Consumenta another fair for animal lovers is held, which can be visited with the same ticket: the ornamental fish trade fair "Aquaristik Empire". Parking is available directly at the Nuremberg Exhibition Centre. The fair also has a metro connection with connection to the Nuremberg central railway station and the airport.
On the whole the organisers welcomed on the 3 days of the fair, from 24. October to 26. October 2015, about 50 exhibitors and 25000 visitors on the HausFreunde in Nuremberg.
