The role of the international golden corridor is becoming more and more prominent, injecting new vitality into the economic and social development along the route.

The quantity and quality of passenger transportation have increased. The Fuxing and Lancang trains are safe, efficient, convenient and comfortable, and are favored by the people along the route. The railroad departments of China and Lao People's Republic have strengthened passenger transportation organization, optimized train operation scheme and increased capacity supply, and the passenger traffic on China-Lao People's Railway has continued to grow, with the average daily number of passenger trains on the Chinese section increasing from 35 at the initial stage of opening to 51 at present, and the number of passengers sent on a single day increasing from 20,000 to the maximum of 103,000 passengers. On March 15, 2023, the China-Laos Railway launched the Internet cell phone APP ticketing system, realizing Internet ticketing, supporting WeChat, Alipay, UnionPay, VISA, Onepay and other payment methods, which greatly improved the ticketing experience of passengers. On April 13, 2023, the China-Laos Railway launched international passenger trains between Kunming and Vientiane for the first time, realizing same-day connections between Kunming and Vientiane, and has sent a total of 155,000 cross-border travelers from 87 countries and regions, and recently added two new stops in Yuxi, China and Muangxai, Laos, which further facilitates the movement of people between the two countries.


Strong growth in cross-border cargo transportation. Strengthening communication with the customs and border inspection departments of China and Laos, completing the upgrading and capacity expansion of the railroad port in Mohan, making good use of the Vientiane South Loading Station, strengthening the organization of cross-border cargo transportation, actively implementing fast customs clearance, improving transportation capacity and clearance efficiency, effectively compressing the full range of logistics costs, and striving to build a golden logistics corridor between China and ASEAN, and increasing the number of cross-border cargo trains on the China-Laos Railway in a single day from 2 at the initial stage of the opening of the railroad to 20 at the peak of this year. The volume of cross-border cargo transportation of China-Laos Railway from January 1 to March 12 this year was 1.064 million tons, with a year-on-year growth of 33.9%. On January 10, 2022, the international cargo train of China-Laos Railway "Lan Mekong Express" was launched for the first time, which was fixed at a fixed point, fixed time, fixed line, and fixed number of cars, and a total of 972 columns have been launched up to now. Up to now, a total of 972 trains have been operated, and the efficiency of cross-border cargo transportation has been continuously improved. The company is actively exploring new modes of international transportation, such as "China-Laos Railway + China-European liner", which has shortened the time of direct rail transportation from Laos, Thailand and other countries to Europe to 15 days. In order to meet the needs of Lao customers for "zero, scattered, small" cargo transportation, from February 20 this year, for the first time through the Vientiane to Mardin between the high-speed passenger train to start express transportation business, and to achieve "same-day delivery", has sent a total of 15,173 pieces of express cargo.

The radiation effect of economic and trade development has been highlighted. The China-Laos Railway has accelerated the flow of people, logistics, capital and information along the railroad line, promoted the development of Vientiane, Luang Prabang and other key stations, driven the development of logistics, trade, tourism and other industries, and increased a large number of jobs. The cross-border cargo category of China-Laos Railway has expanded from more than 10 kinds of rubber, fertilizers and department stores at the initial stage to more than 2,900 kinds of electronics, photovoltaic, communications and automobiles, etc., and the cargo transportation has radiated to the major cities in 12 countries of the "One Belt and One Road" and 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of China, such as Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Myanmar, etc., and the cost of logistics from Vientiane to Kunming has decreased compared with that before the opening of China-Laos Railway. The logistics cost between Vientiane and Kunming has been reduced by about 40% to 50% compared with that before the opening of China-Laos Railway, which has effectively driven the development of economic parks such as Vientiane Sai Sai Sai Sai Tha Comprehensive Development Zone and Mading Special Economic Zone, and the output of Laos's iron ore, tapioca and rubber has increased significantly, which promotes the expansion and upgrading of various types of industries along the route as well as the international trade and economic exchange.


The person in charge said that the State Railway Group will strengthen cooperation with the Lao Railway Department to play the role of the China-Laos Railway "Golden Corridor", and enhance the passenger and cargo transportation capacity and service quality.
